The Resistance

Leader: The leader of the Resistance is an unknown figure that is simply referred to as the Whisperer.

Description and Ideals: The Resistance is a shadowy faction that serves neither the Resurgence nor the Rebellion. They exist only to serve themselves. These hackers and rogues are masters of stealth, shadow, and technology. Nobody in the world understands the Network as well as these people. Their base is located deep underground somewhere is the United States. The Resistance deal with many sorts of people and information. They operate in individual cells on a need-to-know basis, meaning the lowest rung on the ladder only knows about his current job and nothing else. The higher up the ladder, the more information one has access to, but on the leader of the Resistance has access to all the knowledge that the group possesses. The exchanges information through a series of middlemen, so no one truly knows who they work for in order to keep some form of balance. The Resistance has the largest number of followers, but also the highest amount of corruption. Ambitious underlings always seek to rise in the ranks, so assassination and blackmail is commonplace here, but only if one is clever and skilled enough to pull it off. The first test of joining the Resistance is finding them. Only those with the skill to properly locate them are considered worthy enough to be further tested. After that, the potential member is placed through grueling trials that test their mental and physical fortitude, their intelligence, and their morality. The Resistance seeks crafty, strong, and remorseless members so that their will may be done to the letter with no questions asked. That being said, the Resistance is not inherently evil. Their ultimate ideal is that freedom is a lie, and, to be free, you must offer your life to something. They view the Resurgence as overlords that keep their citizens in shackles and offers no true protection or rights and the Rebellion as just another rebel group that will, more than likely, end up become the entity that they fight. The shadowy leader of the Resistance is an unknown figure, but the rumor mill says that they are a master hacker that is skilled in mind magic. To some, the Resistance is a terrifying bogeyman, but, to others, they represent the only way to be truly free in the world today because those are the people who understand that freedom always has its price.

Goals: The main goal of the Resistance is to have their influence spread across the entire world. If a pin drops halfway across the world, they want to be the first to know. Their main plan to do this is to master the Network, the fragmented remains of the old internet. By learning the Network’s secrets, they can be flies on the wall nearly everywhere. The Resurgence and Rebellion both would be vulnerable to infiltration, should the Network be compromised by the Underground.

Allies: The Resistance is allied to no single organization. They are completely independent. They perform services and provide goods for anyone that is willing to pay their price for them.

Enemies: The true enemy of the Resistance is the Resurgence, which despises anything outside of its sphere of influence. Rumors circulate that the leader of the Resistance was a wronged high member of the Resurgence, which may further the animosity between the two groups
